A Little Behind!

Where to start? Kaden went into Our Children's House @ Baylor on Monday, May 18. For the first 9 days, I was not allowed there but from 5:30pm till I got him to sleep. They needed all day to get him familiar with their method of eating. Then for days 9, 10, and 11, I observed from an adjacent room, then I was allowed in the room to observe. After that, I was the "feeder" and the therapist watched in the room, then she left the room and watched thru 1 way glass. It was just Kaden and I in the room. He flew thru their program and came home on Monday June 9. He was there for 3 weeks exactly. We were told before he went in that it would be 4 - 5 weeks so we were very happy with 3. He was totally off all tube feeds by the 10th day there and has not needed any since. He has gained 2 pounds since he has been eating everything orally. Coming home has proved a little more difficult to get all the feeds in, but he has not lost weight since we left there, so I feel I am succeeding!! He is still going to OT 2 times a week to work on the textures he is still having problems with.

Jacks mom and sister and niece were here for a week at the beginning of June. We had alot of fun while they were here and even got to relax a little. We all went to the rodeo and Kaden and Sami got to do Mutton Bustin' (sheep riding...buckin' bronco style). Sami took first place and won a pair of Justin cowboy boots and all the kids got a trophy and bandana and belt buckle. Kaden was not sure at first and was a little upset when he fell off the sheep, but was very proud of his trophy and even slept with it that night.

Collin has been enjoying his friend from AZ that is only here (5 houses down from us) during the summer and Christmas break. He and Cayden have played together every day since school got out. We got his last report card from 2nd grade and his lowest grade was a 94!!! We are proud of him and the great grades he gets! He starts 3rd grade on Aug 24 and Kaden will start kindergarten!! Kindergarten here is all day every day just like the rest of the grades. It will be a big adjustment for Kaden and he will need to learn how to eat properly before school starts. I am looking for a job with the school system so that I can have the same days off as the kids but still get out of the house and back into the working world! Plus, if I work for the school system and need daycare, before and after care right at the school is only $3 a day!! Can't beat that! I am getting bored at home and really need to get out and meet more people here. Plus, a little extra $$ coming in won't hurt either!
